UCDC REPARATIONS CONFERENCE:
“Reparations from California to DC”

The DC City Council currently has a bill under discussion that aims to establish a Reparations Task Force to study and develop reparation proposals for African Americans directly wronged and traumatized by the ills of slavery, Jim Crow, and structural and institutional racism. In early 2024, California announced the first set of reparations bills in the nation - developed from their Task Force. DC lawmakers and other stakeholders want to hear from California reparations experts.
UCDC is looking for University of California faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, and/or graduate students who are experts on reparations to travel to DC and engage with local stakeholders.

Each selected participant will receive funding for travel to DC as well as four training sessions to develop a 10-minute presentation on reparations for people of African descent in the United States.

ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN UCDC

USE THE TEMPLATE BELOW

Hello!

I think you’d be a great fit for the UCDC program and encourage you to apply.

The UC Washington Program (UCDC) offers UC undergraduate students an amazing opportunity to combine coursework, exciting field research, and unparalleled internship experience while living in our nation's capital.

UCDC is a University of California experiential learning program. Accepted students live in the Washington Center and take UC-approved courses. Your financial aid package will cover a similar percentage of costs as it covers on your home campus. About half of the internships in DC are paid. Any UCDC student who receives an offer for an unpaid internship qualifies for our Subsidizing Unpaid Interns Program (SUIP) - which provides students with a $1,000 scholarship.

You can find out more about the program and our campus deadlines by clicking here.
